A heart-pounding, unique and exciting performance of traditional African dance and professional step dancing will be performed at 7:30 p.m. April 9 in Tilson Auditorium.
The Step Afrika performance, sponsored by the Terre Haute Savings Bank, will bring something new and exciting to the stage. Step Afrika strives to blend stepping - a percussive style dance that has been popular for years within African American fraternities and sororities - with traditional African dance.
The group's performances include dance, storytelling, humor, as well as some fun audience participation. Step Afrika teaches that dance can be an educational tool for young people as they work to create a good sense of teamwork, academic achievement and cross-cultural understanding.
There will be a pre-event for all ticket holders beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Heritage Ballroom with activities related to the show as well as refreshments.
Tickets for adults are $23-$25, faculty/staff tickets are $20-$22, and youth tickets are $5. ISU students are admitted for free with a valid student ID. Tickets are available at the Hulman Center Ticket Office (new location in Tirey Hall), on ticketmaster.com, or by phone at 1-877-ISU-TIXS.
