Sureño Gang Member Arrested

OCOTILLO, Calif. - U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the El Centro Sector arrested a gang member Tuesday morning.

The incident occurred at approximately 7:15 a.m., when agents assigned to the El Centro station encountered an undocumented individual who illegally entered the United States a mile north of the United States/Mexico border. The individual was arrested and transported to the El Centro Sector Processing Center to be medically evaluated and processed accordingly.

Record checks revealed that this individual, a 49-year-old Mexican national, is a documented Sureño gang member with an extensive criminal and immigration history. This individual has numerous convictions for inflicting corporal injury to a spouse/cohabitant, possession of a controlled substance, driving under the influence, battery of a spouse ex, hit and run, all with sentences of time in jail. This undocumented individual also has multiple re-entries after deportation and was previously ordered to be removed from the U.S. by an immigration judge.

U.S. Border Patrol will process the individual accordingly.
