After months of strict restrictions and closing borders, the tropical havens of Thailand are all set to welcome fully vaccinated travellersfrom all over the globe, even allowing them to bypass quarantine. However, travelling still requires you to gather several important travel documents, such as the newly installed Thailand Pass.
What is Thailand Pass?
Thailand Pass is a web-based system for Thai and foreign travellers to fill in their travel and health information. Upon approval, travellers will receive a QR code allowing them to travel to Thailand by air (you will still need to meet visa requirements).
The Department of Consular Affairs has collaborated with the Digital Government Development Agency (DGA) to develop the Thailand Pass' system, designed to make the documentation process for travellers entering Thailand more efficientthan the COE application by collecting both travel and health information and also facilitating the filing of TM6and T8forms.
Who needs to apply for Thailand Pass?
Effective from 1 November 2021, all travellers arriving in Thailand by air are required to register with Thailand Pass in order to travel into Thailand. The following are the three schemes through which foreigners and Thai nationals can enter Thailand, and all these travellers should apply for the Thailand Pass.
Exemption from quarantine scheme
Fully vaccinated travellers travelling from the following countries are allowed to enter Thailand without having to serve quarantine :
Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Bhutan, Brunei Darussalam, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Canada, Chile, China, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Laos, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Maldives, Malta, Mongolia, Myanmar Nepal, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Oman, the Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Sri Lanka, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, the United States, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Taiwan.
All of these travellers should apply for the Thailand Pass.
Sandbox program
As for fully vaccinated travellers departing from countries not mentioned above, they are permitted to enter for tourism purposes through Thailand's sandbox program. The program requires travellers to spend seven days in designated hotels in destinations including Phuket, Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Koh Samui. After seven days have elapsed, travellers will be allowed to freely visit other parts of the country.
All of these travellers should apply for the Thailand Pass.
Alternative quarantine
Unvaccinated or partially vaccinated travellers may still enter Thailand but must serve the mandatory Alternative Quarantine (AQ) of 10 days in a designated quarantine hotel in Bangkok, Phuket, or Samui before they can travel to other parts of Thailand.
All of these travellers should apply for the Thailand Pass.

Upon approval, you'll receive your QR Code or Thailand Pass ID.
Note that you cannot submit applications as a group or family, except for travelling with children as the conditions below:
How long will the approval take?
It is required that applicants submit their registration at least 7 days before their intended travel date. Applicants with vaccine certificates from 30 countries/territories that share their PKI QR Code information with Thailand can expect their applications to be automatically approved; for others, the process may take 3 to 7 days.
