Siemens, a leader in the digitization industry, has entered a strategic partnership with ERMA FIRST, a Ballast Water Management Systems company with international presence, for the supply of marine automation equipment and applications. As part of the partnership, Siemens will offer products tested in many applications, technical support, and spare parts to any geographical location of the ship in need.
ERMA FIRST is an award-winning Greek company specializing in Ballast Water Management Systems (BWTS) and has great presence in several large foreign markets (such as the Netherlands, China, Korea and Japan), in some of the most rigorous test facilities in the world. Recently, the company added oneTANK, the smallest ballast water management system in the world, to its product range. The system can be installed in the ballast tanks of larger vessels, in work vessels, tugs, semi-submarines, fishing vessels and super yachts.
As part of the partnership, which concerns oneTANK, Siemens will help ERMA FIRST meet challenges such as managing global competition, energy and costs, project diversity, use of equipment, prompt response and support for problem solving as well as fast growth cycles. These needs will be met by a complete system of integrated solutions, consisting of equipment and software certified for use in shipping. More specifically, Siemens solutions will offer high control reliability, ease of programming and fault diagnosis process, optimized system performance and better complexity management.

The reliable Siemens control system consists of a SIMATIC controller, a device that adapts to any activity that requires high control reliability, ease of programming and fault diagnosis process. Siemens will also supply thermal overload relays and buttons of the Sirius and SiriusAct family, known for their high reliability and suitability for shipping applications. With regards to programming of both devices, a TIA Portal platform will facilitate and accelerate the engineering while allowing for future extensions, simulation functions, service, diagnostics, etc.
