Sky-high Lane County home prices leave buyers gasping in pain, sellers in delight

When office manager Tammie Taucer moved here from Ontario in Eastern Oregon two years ago, she passed on the chance to buy a Eugene condo at $172,000. She opted instead to rent an apartment, settled in, and began looking to buy a single-family home in the $225,000 to $250,000 range.

Today she's still searching, left behind as the Lane County real estate market spiraled into the stratosphere. The condo she saw two years ago is for sale again, at $245,000, a 42 percent hike.
