SAN ANTONIO (January 19, 2022) - District 3 Councilwoman wants to prepare residents in advance of a strong cold front and winds are expected to move through the San Antonio area overnight per National Weather Service forecast.
With the possibility of near-freezing temperatures tonight, and continuing this weekend, now is the time to take steps to protect your family, home, and pets from the winter chill.
Residents should take proper precautions by remembering the Four Ps: People, Pets, Plants and Pipes.

  • People: Keep warm and dress in layers. Check on your elderly family or neighbors.
  • Pets: Bring pets inside to keep them safe and healthy.
  • Plants: Bring potted plants inside. Cover outdoor plants with cloth fabric.
  • Pipes: cover outdoor pipes and allow faucets to slowly drip to prevent them from freezing.

The City has laws that protect pets from neglect including exposure to harsh weather conditions. Residents can report animal neglect by calling the City's 3-1-1 Customer Service line or submitting an online report at saacs.info/311
