Ambassador of Kyrgyz Republic to China Bakytkulova's lecture was successfully held

To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Kyrgyzstan and to strengthen the teaching and research of Eurasian studies at the University, a lecture by Ambassador Bakytkulova of the Kyrgyz Republic to China was successfully held online on June 6th. The lecture was organized by the School of International Studies at the Renmin University of China (SISRUC) and co-organized by the International Office and the School of Global Governance. More than 100 students and teachers attended the lecture titled "The state and prospects for the development of Kyrgyz-Chinese cooperation". Professor Lu Jie, the Vice Dean of SISRUC chaired the lecture.

At the beginning, Professor Du Peng, Vice President of RUC delivered a welcome speech. On behalf of RUC, he extended a sincere welcome to Ambassador Bakhtegulova. He pointed out that China and Kyrgyzstan have a history of good neighborliness and friendship, and the two countries have extensive and in-depth cooperation in political mutual trust, cultural exchanges, and educational cooperation. He thanked Ambassador Baktegunova for her long-term commitment to promoting the development of bilateral relations between China and Kyrgyzstan. He also reviewed the exchanges and cooperation between RUC and Kyrgyzstan in the field of higher education. Du Peng said that this lecture is of great significance for both sides to promote understanding and enhance friendship.

In the keynote speech, Ambassador Baktegunova introduced, reviewed and looked forward to the basic national conditions of Kyrgyzstan and the cooperation between China and Kyrgyzstan in the fields of security, economy and trade, humanities, education, and fight against the epidemic. She pointed out that on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Kyrgyzstan, the cooperation between the two countries entered a fast lane. China is the priority partner of Kyrgyzstan both now and in the future, and bilateral cooperation is in the interest of both countries. The cooperation between the two countries in the field of security is particularly fruitful and has also laid a good foundation for cooperation in other fields. China is Kyrgyzstan's largest foreign trade partner and largest source of foreign investment. Construction projects including the China-Kyrgyzstan- Uzbekistan railway are underway. Rich cultural exchange activities have been carried out smoothly in many places in the two countries, and more and more Kyrgyzstan people are interested in China and come to study here. China and Kyrgyzstan are helping each other at different stages of the epidemic, sending supplies to each other and launching cooperation in the fight against the epidemic. The ambassador also emphasized Kyrgyzstan's firm support for the "Belt and Road" initiative and explained its significance for the whole region.

In the discussion session, Xu Qinhua, professor of SISRUC, Vice Dean of the National Academy of Development and Strategy, Executive Dean of the Institute of Eurasian Studies, and Liu Xu, assistant professor of SISRUC had a dialogue with Ambassador Bakytkulova on the impact of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict on Kyrgyzstan, the factors influencing the decision and future prospects of the China-Kyrgyzstan- Uzbekistan railway project, and the cooperation between China and Kyrgyzstan in green development.

Finally, the participating teachers and students took a group photo with the ambassador, and the lecture was successfully concluded in a pleasant and friendly atmosphere.
