A part of implementation of the technical upgrading programme, Transneft Baltic conducted scheduled works on connection of the constructed section of industrial pipeline at Ust-Luga oil depot with installation of additional stop valves. The purpose of the works is increasing the facilities' safety in case of possible accidents.
The works on connection of the industrial pipeline were conducted by efforts of central maintenance divisions of Leningrad and Novgorod ROPD (Regional Oil Pipeline Directorates) on 15-19 August 2017 in the territory of Ust-Luga oil depot in Ust-Luga commercial seaport.
At the same time scheduled works on assembling additional stop valves at 750th and 444th kilometres of BPS-2 oil trunk pipeline (OTP) were conducted in Tver and Novgorod Regions by efforts of the central maintenance division of Transneft Baltic with participation of a contracting organization. The works were performed as part of the programme of transfer to pitless technology of removing oil from an oil pipeline.
The programme of transfer to pitless technology of removing oil from an oil pipeline provides for assembling 34 gate valves at BPS-2 OTP in 2015-2018. 26 linear gate valves have been assembled as of today (9 units in 2015, 10 units in 2016, 7 units in 2017). Assembly of the rest 8 gate valves is planned to be finished in July 2018.
The works were conducted on a 24-hour basis within 92 hours; oil transportation to Ust-Luga oil depot was resumed within the period established according to the schedule.
