Report by Russian Deputy Minister of Defence, General of the Army Pavel Popov, at a briefing for foreign military attaches on IMTF ARMY 2022 and International Army Games 2022

Dear colleagues!

Dear foreign guests!

I am pleased to welcome you at this briefing on the eve of the opening of the ARMY International Military and Technical Forum, the International Army Games and the 10th Moscow Conference on International Security.

These events will once again bring together representatives of the Russian and foreign armed forces and become a centre of attraction for national and international experts in the field of defence and national security.

On August 15, we traditionally open a major international event at the Patriot Exhibition and Convention Centre.

The events of the Forum will take place at the Park, the Alabino training ground, the Kubinka airfield, as well as at the military districts and the Northern Fleet. In more than 30 constituent entities of the Russian Federation.

The Forum will showcase cutting-edge technical solutions and promising developments from the Russian defence industry, discuss the prospects for expanding military-technical ties, as well as issues of co-operation in the field of national defence and ensuring their national interests.

To date, 72 states have confirmed the participation of their official military delegations in the Forum events.

About 1,500 enterprises and organizations, including foreign ones, are planning to exhibit their products. Developments in the fields of artificial intelligence, electronics and information technology will be demonstrated.

In addition to a wide range of thematic expositions and an intensive scientific and business programme with 289 events, our foreign partners will be a dynamic display of weaponry, military and special equipment capabilities. Negotiations and business meetings of the Ministry's leadership with representatives of official foreign delegations will take place.

In the current politico-military situation, the Ministry of Defence has decided to hold the First International Anti-Fascist Congress, the aim of which will be to counter the falsification of history and the glorification of Fascism.

During the Forum, state contracts worth more than 500 billion roubles will be signed with industrial enterprises, and Rosoboronexport Joint Stock Company will conclude international contracts for the supply of weapons and military equipment.

A platform of interest will be the presentation of weapons and military equipment capabilities as part of the International Army Games.

Despite unprecedented attempts by the West to isolate Russia and other sovereign nations, the geography of the Army Games continues to expand, with 34 competitions planned for three continents.

This year the Games are being hosted by 12 nations:

Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, China, Iran, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Russia, Uzbekistan and Vietnam;

for the first time, the Sniper Frontier competition will be held in South America - hosted by Venezuela.

A total of more than 260 teams from 35 countries, numbering more than 6,500 people, are registered to take part in the Games. These countries represent a population of over 4 billion of the world's population.

This year's debutants are teams from Rwanda and Bolivia.

International Army Games will begin on August 13 and will be held over a two-week period.

In order to bring nations closer together, learn about the cultural traditions of the participating countries and promote the Games, thematic events are held at the Army Games Museum, Friendship Houses and Fans' Clubs.

Visitors and competitors to the Games will have the opportunity to learn about geography, the history of the Games and the competitions, as well as to attend performances by creative ensembles from the participating countries, master classes, drawings and exhibitions on defence friendly relations.

A meeting of the International Association of the International Army Games Federation to draw up a plan for the Games 2023 is planned during the Games.

At present, a number of states have already informed that they are ready to hold competitions on their territory.

And in conclusion, I would like to express confidence that the Forum and the Army Games will bring practical results in terms of further development of military and military-technical cooperation.
