Heinrich Raises Awareness for Victims of Sexual Violence

WASHINGTON - To close out National Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month, U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) and U.S. Senators Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) are leading a bipartisan resolution encouraging support for sexual assault survivors and advocates and highlighting preventative measures to help reduce sexualviolence.

Millions of Americans suffer from sexual violence every year. Approximately one in four women and one in ten men experience sexual assault at some point in their lives. Sexual assault can take many forms, occurring in person or online, and is most often committed by someone the victim knows. If you or someone you know has been sexually assaulted, help is available. Find confidential, toll-free helplines and additional resources HERE.

Heinrich, Grassley, and Shaheen are joined by Sens. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.), Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.), Maggie Hassan (D-N.H.), Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), Tina Smith (D-Minn.), Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), Patty Murray (D-Wash.) and Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.).
