NORMA Group's water management production receives environmental standard certification

Maintal, Germany/Lindsay, USA, November 8, 2021 - NORMA Group again certifies its site in Lindsay, California in accordance with ISO 14001. The plant received certification for the continuous improvement of its environmental management system for the development and production of various water management solutions. The certification demonstrates that NORMA Group is consistently pursuing its goal of certifying all of its production sites in accordance with the internationally-recognized ISO 14001 standard. 24 of 26 production sites are currently certified in accordance with ISO 14001.

"Global megatrends such as climate change and resource scarcity are spurring our efforts to make our production processes more sustainable worldwide and to keep the impact of our manufacturing operations on the environment to a minimum," says Dr. Michael Schneider, CEO of NORMA Group. "Throughout the world and in all our business units, we adopt high environmental standards and are constantly optimizing them. The fact that we have the effectiveness and progress of our environmental management system reviewed by means of external audits and certificates is a matter of course for us."

ISO 14001 certification is a globally-recognized standard for environmental management systems. As part of the certification process, the establishment, implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of the environmental management system are reviewed and recertified every three years. The objective of ISO 14001 certification is to promote environmental protection in line with economic, social and political requirements, to reduce the environmental impact of production processes and to implement environmental targets.

In order to advance its environmental management efforts in a structured manner, NORMA Group developed a comprehensive environmental strategy in 2018. The basis of this environmental strategy consists primarily of climate, water and waste generation. NORMA Group is continuously improving its climate, water and waste management at all production sites. The NORMA Group site in Lindsay was certified in accordance with ISO 14001 for the first time in 2018. The site has improved compared to 2018, particularly in the areas of energy and waste. There has been a ten percent reduction in the energy required for production, among other things. In addition, plastic waste generated in the production process has been reduced by around 80 percent through the use of recycled materials.
