Christian Steinmann to join BCV as head of the Private Banking Division

BCV's Board of Directors has appointed Christian Steinmann to the Bank's Executive Board as head of the Private Banking Division. Mr. Steinmann, currently regional head of French-speaking Switzerland and regional head of wealth management at Credit Suisse, will join BCV on 1 November 2022. He will replace Gérard Haeberli, who has held the position since 2009 and will retire on 31 December after a two-month transition period.

Vast experience in wealth management

Christian Steinmann, born in 1971, is a Swiss certified fiduciary advisor and Swiss certified tax expert. He holds an MBA from the New York University Stern School of Business, HEC Paris, and London School of Economics. Mr. Steinmann began his career at the Vaud Cantonal Tax Administration in 1987. He then moved to Credit Suisse in 1995, where he worked in wealth planning for private banking clients and SMEs. After holding management positions in the private banking division, Mr. Steinmann became responsible for all private clients for the greater Lausanne area in 2013, then regional head of private banking for French-speaking Switzerland in 2017. In 2020, he was also named regional head of French-speaking Switzerland. Mr. Steinmann has deep knowledge of wealth-management products and services thanks to his significant experience in private banking and in managing large client advisory teams. His knowledge of the Canton and extensive professional network will also be great assets to BCV.

Warmest thanks to Gérard Haeberli

Gérard Haeberli will hand over the reins as head of the Private Banking Division on 1 December 2022, before retiring and leaving the Bank on 31 December 2022.

Since taking up this position on 1 July 2009, he has further expanded BCV's customer and business volumes. He successfully implemented new regulations affecting the wealth management business in recent years and drove the division's digital transformation with the creation of the Bank's BCV Conseil advisory services. He also oversaw the implementation of the new Swiss Financial Services Act (FinSA) and the rollout of BCV's socially responsible investment (SRI) offering for personal banking customers.

The Board of Directors and the Executive Board would like to express their warmest thanks to Mr. Haeberli for his unwavering commitment, professionalism, and loyalty. He will continue to work within BCV Group as the chair of the board of directors of subsidiary Piguet Galland & Cie SA.
