The Minister of National Defence Nikos Dendias visited yesterday, Tuesday 16 April 2024, the National Defence College, where he addressed a speech to the students of the 76th Training Series.
The Minister of National Defence was received by the Commander of the College, Lieutenant General Athanassios Sardelis.
At his speech, the Minister referred to the multitude of asymmetrical challenges and threats of the current complex security environment, and, in response, to the planning and implementation of the Armed Forces' reform with the "Agenda 2030". A reform that lays the foundations for the formation of modern and innovative Armed Forces.
Mr. Dendias underlined that the reform is developing on three basic axes:
a. Modernisation of the structure and rationalisation of the operation, evaluation of the existing weapon systems and update - prioritisation of armaments programmes.
b. Innovation ecosystem.
c. Personnel (staffing, care, extension of University PhDs, Housing programme for AF personnel, upgrade of the conscripts' training, voluntary recruitment for women, certification of skills acquired during service etc).
