Where Are They Now? An Update On Former Viking Basketball Players

Most Viking basketball fans are aware that former star Ime Udoka went on to a professional career that included seven seasons in the NBA. And, that Udoka has been an assistant coach for the San Antonio Spurs for several years. But, have you ever wondered what happened to all those other former Viking basketball players after they finished their careers and graduated from Portland State? #1. Chehales Tapscott (6'5''-F-90, graduated '12, plays pro in Japan) could not help Kumamoto Volters (21-9) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the second-placed Kumamoto Volters (21-9) were edged 82-80 on the road by the second-ranked Cyberdyne IR in the West group. Tapscott was the top scorer with 24 points. He also added 5 boards, handed out 5 passes and blocked 2 shots in 39 minutes. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. It's Tapscott's first season with the team. Tapscott has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages 21.2ppg, 8.6rpg, 4.5apg and 1.5spg in 26 games he played so far.

#2. Sebastian Suarez (6'4''-G-91, graduated '15, plays in Chile) led AB Ancud to a victory over the fifth-ranked CD Castro (9-10) 102-84 in the Chilean Liga Nacional last Saturday. He was MVP of the game. Suarez scored 27 points (!!!), had 4 rebounds and dished 4 assists. Asociacion Basquetbol Ancud (0-2) is placed first in Conferencia Sur. This season Suarez has very high stats. He averages 18.3ppg, 4.3rpg and 2.9apg.

#3. Experienced Jeb Ivey (6'3''-PG-80, graduated '03, currently in Iceland) was the major contributor in Njardvik's victory against the closely-ranked Keflavik (8-4) 88-85 in the Icelandic Dominos League on Monday night. Ivey scored 17 points and added 4 passes in 34 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. UMFN Njardvik (11-1) is placed first in the Dominos League. It was his team's eighth consecutive victory in a row. It's Ivey's first season with the team. He has very impressive stats this year 18.2ppg, 2.5rpg, 6.1apg and 1.5spg in 11 games.

#4. Paul Guede (6'5''-G/F-87, graduated '11, plays pro in United Kingdom) managed to help London Lions to win against the fifth-ranked Bristol Acadamy Flyers (7-4) 81-68 in the British BBL in Friday night's game. He scored only 3 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. London Lions (13-2) is placed first in the BBL. It was his team's tenth consecutive victory in a row. This season Guede averages 4.3ppg, 3.9rpg and 1.2apg.

#5. Tiegbe Bamba (6'9''-F-91, graduated '15, plays in Iceland) contributed to an overtime Grindavik's victory against the league outsider Breidablik (1-11) 104-103 in the Icelandic Dominos League last Sunday. He scored 11 points, had 8 rebounds and dished 5 assists in 32 minutes. U.M.F. Grindavik (5-2) is placed second in the Dominos League. It's Bamba's first season with the team. Bamba has very impressive stats this year 16.6ppg, 9.5rpg, 2.6apg and 1.3spg in eight games. He has also French citizenship.

#6. Bryce Canda (6'4''-G-95, graduated '18, currently in Czech Republic) was not able to help Kralovsti sokoli in their game against CEZ Nymburk in the Czech Republic NBL. He scored 7 points. His team was crushed by 29 points 100-71. Canda has relatively good stats this season 12.3ppg, 5.1rpg, 2.4apg and 1.1spg. Worth to mention Canda played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball.

#7. De'Sean Parsons (6'7''-F, graduated '17, plays pro in Russia) contributed to Uralmash's victory against the 13th-ranked MBA Moscow 89-79 in the Russian Superleague 1 (second division) in Monday night's game. Parsons recorded 22 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals in 38 minutes. This year he averages 7.2ppg, 4.3rpg, 1.5apg and 1.2spg in six games.

#8. Andre Murray (6'2''-G-87, graduated '09, plays in Japan) was not able to secure a victory for the league outsider Tokyo Big Blue (0-16) in their last game on Sunday. Despite his very good performance the bottom-ranked Tokyo Big Blue was defeated 97-93 at home by the higher-ranked Toyoda Gosei (#4). Murray recorded a double-double by scoring 28 points and getting 10 rebounds. He also added 4 assists and 2 blocks. This season Murray has very high stats. He averages 19.5ppg, 7.6rpg, 2.9apg and 1.4spg.

#9. Kyle Richardson (6'7''-PF-91, graduated '14, currently in Japan) was the main contributor in a Koshigaya Alphas' victory against the eighth-ranked Kagoshima crushing them 112-72 in the Japanese B League D3 on Sunday night. He was MVP of the game. Richardson had a double-double by scoring 38 points and getting 11 rebounds. He also added 6 assists and 4 steals in 32 minutes. Richardson has very impressive stats this year 22.1ppg, 10.7rpg and 2.3apg in 28 games.
