Rep. Sewell Statement on the Closure of the Jefferson County Committee for Economic Opportunity

Birmingham, AL - Today, U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell (AL-07) released a statement following the announcement that the Jefferson County Committee for Economic Opportunity (JCCEO) will be surrendering all of their state and federal funds and closing their doors:

"This is a devastating loss for the entire Jefferson County community, especially for the children, families, seniors, and low-income residents who rely on the JCCEO for child care, assistance with their utility bills, rent, and other basic necessities.

"This situation demands swift action to address the immediate loss of services resulting from the closure of JCCEO. I will continue to work with federal and local partners to minimize the impact this will have on the residents of Jefferson County and restore services as soon as possible."
