Mutual fund outcomes for April: equity funds lead in profitability and popularity among investors

According to the Investfunds ranking, three Sber Asset Management funds have been included in the most popular funds among Russians as of the end of April, with two listed in the top ten most profitable mutual funds in Russia. As in previous years, equity funds continue to be in high demand among investors. The most popular open-end mutual fund, however, is the Balanced hybrid fund.

The most profitable

Based on the results for April, two Sber Asset Management Funds were included in the top ten most profitable open-end mutual funds, with a net asset value starting at RUB 1 bn.

  • Shares in the Global Shares[1] mutual fund, which invests in shares and depository receipts in American and European companies, as well as companies in emerging markets, appreciated by 3.77%. Investments are made by purchasing SPDR S&P 500 ETF TRUST shares.
  • Shares in the Financial Sector[2] mutual fund appreciated by 3.66%. The fund invests in shares in Russian and international banks, insurance companies, and financial institutions.

The most popular

As of the end of April, three Sber Asset Management open-end mutual funds were listed in the top ten most popular mutual funds on the Russian market. Unsurprisingly, the dynamic growth of the equity funds attracted the attention of investors, who in their turn continue to increase the proportion of funds in their portfolio invested in shares.

  • Russians invested RUB 2.4 bn in the Balanced[3] mutual-end fund, which enables customers to invest in a wide variety of securities, including promising shares and bonds issued by large, reliable companies. It facilitates a higher yield than in bond funds while limiting risks.
  • Clients invested RUB 2.2 bn in the MOEX Total Return[4] exchange-traded fund (ticker - SBMX), the first Russian exchange-traded fund, through which customers can invest in shares in major Russian companies listed on MOEX. The dividends received are reinvested in the fund.
  • Clients invested RUB 1.2bn in the Dobrynya Nikitich mutual fund[5], one of the oldest open-end mutual funds in Russia, launched over 20 years ago. The fund has successfully survived all the highs and allows of the Russian stock market and allows you to invest in shares in major Russian companies.
