Arrest Made in South Sacramento Homicide

At approximately 10 p.m. on January 16, 2020, the Sheriff's Communication Center received a call from the 6000 block of Florin Road in South Sacramento. The caller stated someone had been stabbed and the suspect was still on scene.

Deputies arrived and located an adult male suffering from at least one stab wound. He was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

An adult female at the scene sustained a non-life-threatening stab wound to her lower body. She was transported to an area hospital.

The suspect, who has been identified as 64-year-old Roosevelt Hardley (see attached photo) is a known transient in the area and was taken into custody without incident. He has been booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on charges related to this investigation.

Detectives believe the stabbing occurred after the suspect and victim got into a verbal altercation in a business parking.

The identity of the victim in this case will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner's Office after notification of next of kin.
