9-1-1 Call Taker Cheyenne Resende Receives Commissioner’s Commendation

The BPD is proud to be part of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.

This week 911 Public Safety Telecommunicators who work in Emergency 911 Communication Centers across the country are recognized for the lifesaving work that they provide to millions of callers every year.

The men and women of the Boston Police Departments Operations Division are those unsung heroes who are always there to answer the call. They took 667,000, 9-1-1 calls in 2023.

They are the First, First Responders, who are the heartbeat of BPD.

As part of National Public Safety Telecommunicators week, we introduce you to 9-1-1 call taker, Cheyenne Resende, who recently received a Boston Police Department Commissioner's Commendation.

She received this prestigious honor for her quick, patient, and cooperative response to a domestic violence call where she kept an ongoing dialogue with the caller and was able to obtain as much information as she could, all while giving officers time to respond and intervene.

Mrs. Resende displayed compassion and empathy and due to her efforts, a potential act of violence was avoided.

We thank her and all of our Operations Division staff for their heroic efforts each and every day!
