Detachment of ships of Black Sea Fleet arrive at Algerian port to participate in Russian-Algerian naval exercise

Detachment of ships of the Black Sea Fleet consisting of the frigate Admiral Grigorovich, the patrol ship Dmitry Rogachev and the rescue tugboat SB-742 from the permanent grouping of the Russian Navy in the Mediterranean Sea arrived at the port of Algeria to participate in Joint naval maneuvers 2021 international exercise with the ships of the Navy of the Algerian People's Democratic Republic.

The exercise will last till November 20. During the onshore phase, the crews of the Russian and Algerian ships will conduct communication exercises, briefings on episodes of joint actions, train inspection teams, hold a demonstration damage control exercise and a pre-voyage conference before the naval phase of the exercise.

The purpose of the exercise is to practice joint actions of the navies of the two countries, to strengthen security in the region. The main objectives of the exercise were the development of Russian-Algerian military cooperation, the exchange of experience between the fleets in the performance of specific tasks, the planning and coordination of joint naval training activities.

In accordance with the protocol agreed by the parties, the exercise is led by representative of the Algerian Navy - the commander of the Central Region of the Algerian Navy, Rear Admiral Qaid Nordin. Rear Admiral Viktor Kochemazov, commander of the Novorossiysk naval base of the Black Sea Fleet, was appointed as the head of the exercise from the Russian side.

From the Algerian Navy, the following are taking part in the exercise: the frigate Harrad with a helicopter on board, the training ship La Summam, the rescue ship al-Munjid, a patrol aircraft and a search and rescue helicopter.
