Senator Fontana Announces Over $2.5M in Infrastructure Grants

Allegheny County - March 26, 2024 - Today, Senator Wayne Fontana announced $2,560,635 in infrastructure grants were awarded to projects and communities throughout the 42nd senatorial district.

"State investment in these infrastructure projects will help ensure pedestrian safety and accessibility, as well as supporting recreation and business," said Senator Fontana. "This is an investment in our communities and our economy, and I am proud to support these worthy projects."

Since 2016, Fontana has secured $15.1 million in state Multimodal Transportation Funding for projects and communities in his Senate District.

Sen. Fontana advocated for the following projects:

  • Sports & Exhibition Authority - $950,000 for pedestrian access improvements to PNC Park on the Northside
  • Hullett Development - $452,424 for sidewalk improvements around the Triangle Building on Liberty Avenue Downtown
  • McKees Rocks Borough - $300,000 for road resurfacing and construction of a bike/walking path in the borough
  • Riverfront Industrial Development - $300,000 towards roadway improvements at the Stowe Township site
  • Scott Township - $127,764 for sidewalk improvements along Bower Hill Road
  • Borough of Carnegie - $108,500 for pedestrian safety improvements in the borough

Other Multimodal grants awarded in the district include:

  • Borough of Green Tree - $247,800 for sidewalk improvements for Greentree Road
  • City of Pittsburgh - $74,147 for a cycle lane/trail paving for the Second Avenue Connector

Grants were awarded at the March 26, Commonwealth Financing Authority board meeting from the Multimodal Transportation Fund. Multimodal Transportation Fund grants are intended to encourage economic development and to ensure safe and reliable transportation is available to residents.
