Bismarck Fire Department Responds to Garage Fire

Central Dakota Communications Center received a report of a detached garage on fire on the 1300 block of North 16th St. The Bismarck Fire Department was dispatched to respond. The first arriving fire crew arrived to find heavy smoke and fire showing from the roof of a detached garage. The fire crew found that the occupants of the home were already outside, and the occupants of the neighboring property were evacuating.

The fire crew established command, deployed a hose line and began an exterior fire attack. Additional fire crews arrived on scene and assisted with establishing a water supply, pulling additional hose lines, and attacking the fire. When the fire was extinguished an overhaul operation was conducted to find any remaining smoldering materials.

Six fire department apparatus and 16 fire fighters were dispatched to the scene. The Bismarck Police Department assisted with scene control. Metro Area Ambulance was on scene to provide medical support. There were no injuries to the occupants or first responders. The garage was unoccupied at the time of the fire. The garage sustained heavy fire and smoke damage. Fire spread was limited to the detached garage and the occupants of the home were not displaced by the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
