Grant Roundup: Senator Murkowski Announces Federal Grants Heading to Alaska

U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced the following grants to organizations, Tribal entities, and communities in Alaska:

• Alaska-Statewide: $700,000 from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to the State of Alaska, Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) program to perform site characterization activities such as preliminary assessments and site inspections at potential or confirmed hazardous waste sites.
• Anchorage: $135,000 to fund the first year of a five-year University Center Economic Development Program at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA), which supports research and development to promote entrepreneurship and the local economy.
• Anchorage: $439,694 to the UAA from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolic research.
• Anchorage: $315,337 to the UAA from the National Science Foundation for OPP-PRF: Demographic, Epidemiologic, and Social Consequences.
• Anchorage: $250,811 to the UAA from the National Science Foundation for OPP-PRF: Demographic, Epidemiologic, and Social Consequences.
• Anchorage: $1.4 million to Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium from HHS for Substance Centers for Scientific Health and Research in Indian Country.
• Anchorage: $500,000 to Southcentral Foundation from HHS for Substance Centers for Healthy Kids Outreach.
• Anchorage: $234,750 to State of Alaska/Department of Transportation & Public Facilities from Federal Aviation of Administration (FAA) for Birchwood Airport Master Plan.
• Anchorage: $136,313 to University of Alaska Anchorage from National Science Foundation (NSF) for Collaborative Research: Unearthing the Young Stars in Aquila.
• Anchorage: $1.7 million to State of Alaska/Department of Transportation & Public Facilities from the FAA for rehabilitation of the Ted Stevens International Airport.
• Anchorage: $166,667 to the Foraker Group from HHS for Promoting Population Health.
• Bethel: $31 million from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act to Unicom Inc. to deploy a fiber-to-the premises network which will connect over 2,100 people, 14 businesses, and three public schools in the Bethel Census Area to high-speed internet, benefitting Alaskans in Atmautluak, Nunapitchuk, Kasigluk, Tuntutuliak, Kwethluk and Kwinhagak Alaska Native Village Statistical Areas and the Bethel region.
• Bristol Bay: $34 million from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act to Bristol Bay Telephone Cooperative Inc. todeploy a fiber-to-the-premises network which will connect over 800 people, more than 20 businesses, and seven public schools in New Stuyahok, Levelock, King Salmon, New Koliganek, Naknek, South Naknek, and Ekwok Alaska Native Village Statistical Areas, Dillingham, and Lake and Peninsula Borough.
• Cooper Center: $200,000 to Ahtna' T'aene Nene' D/B/A Copper River Native Association from Department of Health and Human Services for Substance Abuse services.
• Fairbanks: UAF will receive a portion of a $3.9 million nationwide grant to support research and technology development from NASA's Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR), Rapid Response Research.
• Fairbanks: $19.7 million to the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) from the National Science Foundation for Toolik Field Station Base.
• Fairbanks: $2.9 million to UAF from the National Science Foundation for Developing a Place-based STEM Education Model for Cultural Connections to Alaska Science.
• Fairbanks: $250,811 to UAF from the National Science Foundation for the Biogeochemical Importance of Marine Particles.
• Glenallen: $50,000 to Ahtna-Yakutat Elders Project from National Park Service for America's Indigenous cultures.
• Haines: $1.2 million to Haines Borough from U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for Roadway Repairs.
• Juneau: $5.4 million to Administration for Children and Families/Office of Head Start from U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for Head Start Projects.
• Juneau: $2.3 million to Juneau International Airport from the FAA for Rehabilitating Access Roads.
• Juneau: $199,879 toUniversity of Alaska Southeast Juneau from National Science Foundation (NSF) for ORE-CZ: Riverine Biogeochemical Export from High-Latitude Catchments: The Role of Glaciers and Extreme Hydrologic Events.
• Juneau: $248,722 to the Central Council Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska (CCTHITA) and the State of Alaska Department Health and Social Services from U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services.
• Juneau: $400,000 to the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services from U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for Oral Heath Workforce activities.
• Kenai: $120,000 to Kenai Municipal from the FAA for snow removal equipment.
• Ketchikan: $29 million from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act to AP&T Wireless Inc. to deploy a fiber-to-the-premises network which will connect over 1,200 people, more than 40 businesses, and one public school to high-speed internet to serve Klawock, Craig, and Prince of Wales-Hyder.
• Kobuk: $26.5 million to State of Alaska/Department of Transportation & Public Facilities from FAA for Point Hope Airport Reconstruction and Taxiway.
• Kodiak: $100,000 to Kodiak Area Native Association from United States Department of Agriculture for Farm to School projects.
• Nome: $12.5 million to State of Alaska/Department of Transportation & Public Facilities from FAA for Shishmare Airport Improvement.
• North Slope: $796,875 to State of Alaska/Department of Transportation & Public Facilities from FAA for Updating Utqiagvik's Airport Master Plan.
• Palmer: $37,814 to Fish Creek Village Pedestrian Survey and Mapping Project from National Park Service for America's Indigenous cultures.
• Palmer: $91,490 to Knik Tribe from United States Department of Agriculture for Farm to School projects.
• Point Hope: $650,000 million to Point Hope, Kobuk from Federal Aviation Administration for Airport Improvement.
• Seward: $418,903 to Catalyst Marine Engineering from the United States Maritime Administration to purchase welding CMobile units as well as a propulsion CMobile unit.
• Valdez-Cordova: $21 million from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act to Cordova Telephone Cooperative Inc. to deploy a fiber-to-the-premises network. This network will connect over 1,100 people and more than 50 businesses to high-speed internet in the Valdez-Cordova Census Area and the Eyak Alaska Native Village Statistical Area.
• Wasilla: $5.4 million to CCS Early Learning from U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for Head Start Projects.
