Under the auspices of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ditmir Bushati, was celebrated today the International Day of La Francophonie. Except senior executives and diplomats of this institution, the event was attended also by the Vice Speaker of the Albanian Parliament Valentina Leskaj, Minister of State for Public Administration and Innovation Milena Harito, representatives of various Albanian state institutions, members of the Diplomatic Corps accredited in Albania and many Albanian and foreign francophone personalities.
In his opening remarks, the General Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ferit Hoxha praised the importance of francophonie for Albania, as a common cultural wealth, shared with many countries and nations of the world. He invited all francophones of Albania to increase their daily commitment in the framework of the Francophonie, in all their activity fields. DG Hoxha stressed that various activities are being held during these two weeks in the entire country such as school activities, exhibitions, theater plays and competitions of gastronomic meetings on Francophone culture.
The French Ambassador to Albania Bernard Fitoussi, in his address on behalf of the diplomatic missions of Francophone countries accredited in our country, underscored the importance of democratic values, tolerance and the promotion of diversity, which are spread to each individual through the French language and culture.
During the ceremony, as by tradition, 'Diplomas of Honor' were handed to distinguished francophone personalities for the year 2017.
