"From 2007 to 2019, the rate of suicide among 10-24-year-olds increased by nearly 60%"

WASHINGTON, DC - Earlier this week, Sound the Alarm for Kids, an initiative centered on raising awareness of the national mental health emergency in children and teens, launched a video advertising campaign spotlighting the mental health crisis in youth. Sound the Alarm for Kids, started by the Children's Hospital Association (CHA), American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists (AACAP), declared a national mental health emergency in children and is urging Congress to enact legislation and increase funding to address this crisis.

The ad campaign will run for the next five weeks in The Washington Post and Politico. To view the video, please visit: https://youtu.be/jugELmL8TmA. Below is the transcript of the ad:

"The pediatric community is sounding the alarm for children and teens. America's kids are in a mental health crisis from 2007 to 2019. The rate of suicide among 10- to 24-year-olds increased by nearly 60%. More than half of parents now say they are concerned about the mental well-being of their children. We're urging Congress to help us address the crisis. Learn more at soundthealarmforkids.org. Paid for by Children's Hospital Association."

More than 100 groups have pledged their support recognizing children's mental health as a national emergency.
