Rep. Frankel Statement on the House Passage of the National Defense Authorization Act

Washington, DC - Today, Representative Lois Frankel (FL-21), released the following statement after the House passed the 61st consecutive National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2022. This bipartisan, bicameral negotiated bill includes key provisions to strengthen America's security and meet the needs of our servicemembers.

"This National Defense Authorization Act is a big win for our men and women in uniform," said Rep. Frankel. "This bipartisan bill modernizes our defenses, strengthens our national security, and provides a pay raise for members of the military. It acknowledges the importance of family by improving paid leave and increasing access to child care. It takes the decision to prosecute a sexual assault case out of the chain of command, better protecting survivors and holding perpetrators accountable. This NDAA also includes a historic acknowledgement of the importance of women's participation in peace and security efforts to advance gender equality around the world."

The National Defense Authorization Act passed the House by a vote of 363 to 70 and will go to the Senate for final approval. For Rep. Frankel's previous statement on the NDAA, click here.
