Serbia, Venezuela show high degree of respect for matters of highest national importance

Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikola Selakovic met today in Caracas with President of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro, with whom he discussed the further strengthening of traditionally friendly relations between the two countries.

At the end of his official visit to Venezuela, Selakovic expressed his gratitude to Maduro for the firm and principled position of Venezuela regarding the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia and the unequivocal and unconditional support that this country provides us in international organisations regarding Kosovo and Metohija.

The interlocutors exchanged opinions on current regional and global issues, as well as ways to face those challenges, while safeguarding their national interests.

Selakovic noted that economic relations do not follow excellent political relations, expressing the expectation that this visit and signed agreements will be significant for the improvement of economic cooperation between the two countries, as well as cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.

Yesterday he also met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela Carlos Faria and on that occasion pointed out that during the long history of our diplomatic relations, we managed to preserve a high degree of mutual respect and appreciation on issues of key national interests.

The two ministers signed the Declaration of the Serbia-Venezuela political consultation mechanism, the Agreement on cooperation in the field of tourism between the Republic of Serbia and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, the Memorandum of Understanding in the field of youth and sports between the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of People's Power for Youth and Sports of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, as well as the Cooperation Agreement between the National Library of Serbia and the National Library of Venezuela.
