DeLauro Statement on Death of Congressman Donald Payne Jr.
Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) released a statement following an announcement that Congressman Donald Payne Jr. passed away:
"I am heartbroken by news that my dear friend Donald Payne has passed away. From rebuilding America's crumbling infrastructure, to restructuring our broken healthcare system - Congressman Payne was a force in the Congresswho fought for hardworking Americans."A senior Democrat on the powerful House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, he secured a nearly $1 billion appropriation to fund the Gateway Project, a multi-year, multi-billion-dollar project to rebuild transportation infrastructure between New Jersey and New York. He was a staunch advocate for cancer prevention, and a strong supporter of the Affordable Care Act. His legacy of public service will result in healthier lives for Americans, good-paying jobs, and sustainable and resilient infrastructure that will stand the test of time.
