Prior to the tree planting ceremony, volunteers received an overview of the Medical Center's Facilities Landscape Master Plan and education on how to properly plant the trees.

The event supported Penn State Health's and the College of Medicine's sustainability initiatives. Hershey Medical Center participates in the Chesapeake Bay Foundation 10 Million Trees Partnership and the National Arbor Day Foundation Tree Campus Healthcare Program.
