After a long spring and summer away from the snowplows, City of Dublin crews put their skills to the test.
Each year, they perform a series of exercises to prepare for a safe and efficient snow removal season.
They start with "Snow School," where all employees assigned to a snow route or are included on the auxiliary list are required to attend to refresh their skills and familiarize themselves with the routes and trucks.
Following "Snow School," the rear parking lot of the Service Center was transformed into a "road-eo" obstacle course to put their snowplow skills to the test!
During the Road-eo, drivers were scored on their ability to maneuver between traffic cones, back up, plow on a curve and their ability to complete the course quickly.
Those without a CDL license could try out the course in the 1-ton plow.
"It's easy to underestimate how much skill you need to maneuver a truck like that," Public Information Officer Madi Kregel said. "I have a lot of appreciation for the SnowGo team and their abilities."
Judges scored the participants' performance and awarded prizes for the various activities. Great job to our event winners:
