Statement by Congressman Kildee on CHIPS and Science Act Being Signed into Law

FLINT-Congressman Dan Kildee, Chief Deputy Whip of the House Democratic Caucus, issued the following statement today after President Joe Biden signed the CHIPS and Science Act into law:

"I am grateful Republicans and Democrats came together to Pass the CHIPS and Science Act, which will help to boost our economy, increase our competitiveness and lower costs for families. I worked hard to ensure this new bipartisan law includes provisions to support the domestic manufacturing of critical components like semiconductors for automobiles.

"Michiganders have felt the impact of the semiconductor shortage in their everyday lives, from unfinished cars sitting in parking lots to higher prices on goods with chips. We cannot depend on other countries for critical components to our economy. This historic bill will bring critical manufacturing back to Michigan, strengthen our economy and lower costs for families while positioning us to compete with our economic competitors, like China, and bolster our national security."
