Rep. Zeldin Hosts Virtual Reception in Honor of U.S. Service Academy Nominees

PATCHOGUE, NY - On Friday, January 21, 2022, Congressman Lee Zeldin (R, NY-1), a United States Army veteran, hosted a virtual reception to honor the 37 high school seniorsfrom the First District who were nominated for admission to the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, NY, U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY, and U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO.

Congressman Zeldin virtually presented each of the nominees with a Certificate of Congressional Recognition, and the reception included an invocation from Pastor Candace Whitman of the First Presbyterian Church of Amagansett as well as remarks from Brookhaven Town Councilman Neil Foley, Patchogue Village Mayor Paul Pontieri, and Commander Michael Canders, representing the Congressman's Service Academy Review Committee.

"All 37 of these impressive young men and women have been exhibiting superior academic achievement, leadership and unwavering character, and their decisions to serve our nation by attending one of our nation's service academies make Long Island and our country so proud," said Congressman Zeldin."Each and every one of these students are representing our communities' best and brightest. It's an honor to nominate them and I am confident they have extremely bright futures."
