23.04.2021

Yerevan Municipality is going on carrying out construction and renovation activities in municipal kindergartens. Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan watched the process and the results on the spots.
'The volumes are quite large-scale and I am satisfied with the results: in 2020 we completed renovation of 12 kindergartens. 23 pre-schools are under construction. 10 of them will be put into operation this year, 13 ones - in 2022', stressed the Mayor.

The kindergartens involved in the program have never been renovated since their construction. Those ones where renovation is completed now have bright, colourful and comfortable rooms, with spacious halls and gyms. The renovation program also includes repairing of roofs, drainage systems, inner communication lines, replacement of doors and windows with new ones. Lavatories convenient for kids are provided as well. Seismic reinforcement and thermal insulation are carried out as well. At the end of the program, it will become possible to expand the territories in some kindergartens due to which some new groups can be opened,

'It is essential that renovation makes it possible to solve various problems. The first problem is seismic stability: kids' safety is the most important aspect for me. Secondly, we are increasing energy efficiency to save energy costs. The saved financial means the directors of pre-schools will use to update furniture and other important issues', said Hayk Marutyan.

Renovation of 8 kindergartens of 23 ones will be financed from the city budget, and 15 ones - within the frames of the energy efficiency program of Yerevan. For the renovation of kindergartens 2 milliard 100 million drams have been disbursed from the community budget of 2021.

Total cost of Yerevan energy efficiency program is about 15 million euro. The program is financed by the European Investment Bank (loan of 7 million euro), by the Eastern Europe Energy Efficiency and Environment Partnership (E5P) fund (5 million euro investment grant), by the Green Climate Fund (via UNDP, 1 million euro technical support grant) and Yerevan Municipality (2 million euro co-financing).
