Police investigating homicide

Police are investigating a homicide that occurred in Halifax early this morning.

At approximately 12:45 a.m. police responded to a report of an injured person in the area of Sylvia Avenue and Herring Cove Road. Officers located a 37-year-old woman who had been stabbed. She was taken to the hospital where she later died as a result of her injuries.

Herring Cove Road has reopened to traffic. Members from the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division, Forensic Identification Section and Patrol remain on scene. The investigation is in the early stages and further details will be provided when they become available.
