Passenger Killed In Crash On I-24 Sunday Night

A passenger has died following Sunday's single vehicle crash just before midnight on I-24 East near Harding Place. Keijhan Ameer Roby, 22, was the rear passenger in a white Dodge Charger when it struck a rock wall.

The preliminary investigation indicates the Charger was traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed and was passing other vehicles on the shoulder of the roadway when the driver, Daniel Lorenzo Tyler, 25, lost control. The Charger rotated before striking the wall at the rear side.

Roby died at the scene.

Tyler was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with serious injuries. The front seat passenger was not injured.

There were no signs of impairment at the scene.

The investigation continues.
