Rosen Helps Pass Bipartisan Package to Support Israel, Ukraine, and Taiwan

Legislation to Provide Aid to Democratic Allies Heads to President's Desk

WASHINGTON, DC - Tonight, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) helped pass bipartisan legislation to provide aid to Ukraine and Israel, support Taiwan, and send humanitarian assistance to help civilians in Gaza. The package also includes Rosen-backed bipartisan legislation to hold Iran and its proxies accountable. It also provides additional funding for the Nonprofit Security Grant Program that helps protect vulnerable institutions like synagogues from violence at a time of rising antisemitism. This bipartisan aid package already passed the U.S. House of Representatives and now heads to the President's desk to be signed into law.

"With our adversaries on the march, we have democratic allies around the world that desperately need our help to defend themselves. I'm proud to have helped pass this bipartisan aid package that provides security assistance for Ukraine and Israel, protects Taiwan, delivers humanitarian assistance to civilians in Gaza, and strengthens America's defense industrial base," said Senator Rosen. "This bipartisan package also includes provisions I have championed to protect synagogues and other vulnerable Jewish institutions from violence at a time of rising antisemitism and hold Iran and its proxies accountable for their destabilizing actions."

The bipartisan supplemental package includes:

• $14.1 billion to help Israel defend itself, defeat Hamas, and work to bring hostages home. The funding includes $4 billion to replenish the Iron Dome and David's Sling missile defense systems and $1.2 billion for the Iron Beam defense system to counter short-range rockets. The bill also requires briefings to Congress on the status and welfare of hostages being held by Hamas in Gaza.
• Over $60 billion in defense assistance to support Ukraine in its fight against Vladimir Putin and Russian aggression, including over $23 billion to replenish U.S. military weapons and equipment provided to Ukraine and $13.8 billion to allow Ukraine to rearm itself through purchases of new weapons and munitions from the U.S. industrial base.
• $8.13 billion in funding to bolster U.S. and allied capabilities in the Indo-Pacific and deter aggression from the Chinese Communist Party.
• $9.15 billion in global humanitarian aid, specifically for Ukraine, Gaza, the West Bank, East Africa, and South Asia. Funding to help Palestinian civilians is prohibited from going to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA).
• $400 million for the Nonprofit Security Grant Program to protect religious institutions like synagogues from attacks amid a rise in antisemitism.
• Rosen-backed bipartisan Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad International Terrorism Support Prevention Act that would sanction foreign entities and governments, like Iran, that support Hamas, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, or their affiliates.
• Rosen-backed bipartisan Stop Harboring Iranian Petroleum (SHIP) Act that would sanction foreign ports and refineries that process Iranian oil in violation of U.S. sanctions as a way to stop Iran from using oil sales to fund its malign actions against the United States, Israel, and Arab partners in the Middle East.

Senator Rosen has been working to pass bipartisan legislation that provides much-needed assistance to Israel, Ukraine, and Taiwan. She has also been a leader in the push to increase funding for the Nonprofit Security Grant Program and help protect vulnerable institutions, like synagogues, from violence. In February, Senator Rosen also helped pass bipartisan legislation in the Senate, which was blocked by the House of Representatives, to provide security assistance to Ukraine and Israel, support Taiwan, and deliver humanitarian assistance to civilians in Gaza.
