Dec 8, 2021
Press Release
WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard E. Neal (D-MA) released the following statement after the House of Representatives passed H.R. 1155, the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act:

"There is no place in our nation for goods created at the hands of forced labor, and it's about time we send a clear, strong message to the Chinese Government that the United States will not be complicit in their brutal human rights violations. With this bill, we stand up for our values and definitively say that there's no place for forced labor in our trade policies. There is widespread, bipartisan agreement on standing up for the Uyghur people, and anything less than the actions laid out in H.R. 1155 falls short."
