The City is seeking community feedback on an application from property owners that would see 50 Dyson Street Kensington removed from the City's Heritage List. The site includes the Memorial Church of St Martin in the Field and Durbridge Hall.
Properties on the Heritage List are protected under the Planning and Development Act 2005 from being demolished, altered or modified unless approval has been granted by the City.
To be included on the Heritage List, a place must be classified category A or B on the City's Local Heritage Inventory. If approved the request would see the church and hall reclassified from category B (considerable significance) to category D (little significance) on the Local Heritage Inventory and therefore removed from the Heritage List.
In response to this application, the City is seeking feedback from nearby property owners, residents and the wider City of South Perth community about the reclassification. The feedback along with the heritage reports and a structure report will be considered as part of a report that will be presented to Council for their consideration and decision making.
Information about the heritage classification of 50 Dyson Street Kensington and other FAQs can be found at Your Say South Perth.
Feedback closes at 4pm, Wednesday 10 November 2021.
