Rockport's Holiday on the Harbor is a daylong celebration of the season. Shops and restaurants in the village will offer a variety of food a drink specials, while throughout the village families can enjoy visits with Santa, Flatbread pizza at Rockport Marine Park, and a free family movie with popcorn at Rockport Opera House that evening. The village will be lit with over 2,000 luminaria, with a tree lighting at 5 p.m. at Rockport Marine Park, followed by fireworks over the harbor at 5:30.
Bay Chamber Concerts and Bay Chamber Music School will present two free concerts during the day, with the young students ensemble Suzuki Twinklers playing at 2:30 p.m. at Union Hall on Central Street.
The Odeon Holiday Concert will take place at Union Hall at 3:30 p.m. The free performance features Odeon ensembles Allegro, Adult Orchestra and, new this year, the inter-generational Odeon Chamber Orchestra. Odeon Allegro, the ensemble of young members, is led by Bay Chamber faculty Maya French, violin, Brianna Fischler,viola, and Nate Martin, bass. The Odeon Adult and Chamber orchestras are conducted by Deirdre McClure, assisted by Gilda Joffe and Nathan Hillman. The concert will feature Elgar's 'Serenade for Strings' and will include works by a variety of composers and many holiday favorites. Also joining the Odeon ensembles is the Bay Chamber Jazz Ensemble, led by Mike Whitehead, trumpet, and Nate Martin, bass.
