Congressman Krishnamoorthi Votes To Find Bannon In Contempt Of Congress For Refusing To Comply With Investigation Of The January 6th Insurrection

WASHINGTON - Today, Congressman Krishnamoorthi issued the following statement after voting to find Stephen K. Bannon in contempt of Congress for refusing to comply with a subpoena issued by the Select Committee to investigate the January 6th attack on the United States Capitol:

"I joined my colleagues in performing our solemn bipartisan duty to find Stephen Bannon in contempt of Congress. This bipartisan action was important in order to uphold the integrity of congressional subpoenas, the investigation into the insurrection of January 6th, and our fidelity to the rule of law as a nation. Under any circumstances, congressional subpoenas should be honored, but the importance is even more unassailable when it comes as part of a congressional investigation into the insurrection of January 6th and the storming of our nation's Capitol. It is imperative that the Select Committee to investigate the January 6th attack on the United States Capitol succeed in its mission to fully investigate that insurrection to prevent it from ever occurring again. Enforcing the Committee's subpoena's is essential to that mission."
