109th International Labour Conference resumes
GENEVA (ILO News) - The second segment of the 109th Session of the International Labour Conference (ILC) begins on 25 November 2021 and runs until 11 December 2021.
The Conference will be held virtually, reflecting changes imposed by the COVID-19 crisis.
Main items on the agenda will be two general discussions, one on inequalities and the world of work and the second on skills and lifelong learning.
There will be one sitting only of the Conference plenary, which will be held on Saturday 11 December, to consider the reports of the working parties and committees and formally close the 109th Session.
The Conference plenary will conclude with the closing statements of the Officers of the Conference and the Director-General.
The first segment of the Conference, which closed on 19 June resulted in the adoption of the Global Call to Action for a Human-Centred Recovery. It also included the ILO's programme and budget for 2022-23, the recurrent discussion on social protection, and consideration of the reports on the application of labour standards during the pandemic and related country case discussions.
The plenary on 11 December can be followed on the ILO website ilo.org/ilc. A live 30 minute 'World of Work Show' covering key themes will be broadcast at 17:00 CET on 25th and 29th, November and on the 6th and 13th December

The ILC, sometimes known as the world parliament of labour, is the largest international gathering dedicated to the world of work, attended by representatives of governments, employers and workers from the 187 ILO Member States. As well as discussing key world of work issues, delegates discuss, adopt and monitor International Labour Standards and set the ILO's global agenda and budget.
The 109th session of the annual ILC was deferred from 2020 to this year by the ILO's Governing Body, as a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic.
