Learn what to do to get ready for hurricane season, make a kit

April 18, 2024 - Are you ready for hurricane season? Learn preparedness tips and gather supplies at Community Preparedness Day.

Hampton's Emergency Management Office is hosting a free day of education about such topics as: building an emergency kit, creating an emergency plan, staying informed during disasters, food and water safety, first aid, safeguarding critical documents, emergency preparedness tips for people with special needs, pet care in disasters, power outage safety, and natural gas safety.

The event, in honor of Hurricane Preparedness Week, will be Saturday, May 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the West Hampton Community Center, 1638 Briarfield Road. the first 250 families will get some supplies to build their own emergency kit.
