Rep. Buck Votes 'NO' on H.R. 7, 'Paychecks for Trial Lawyers' Act

WASHINGTON - Today, Rep. Ken Buck (R-Colo.) voted 'NO' on the Democrats' Paycheck Fairness Act.H.R. 7 makes it harder for businesses to defend against frivolous lawsuits, allows trial lawyers to pursue unlimited compensatory damages, requires business owners to meet statistically impossible standards, and imposes draconian compliance costs on businesses amounting to more than $600 million per year.

'H.R. 7 does not benefit working women like the title of the bill suggests, but it will line the pockets of trial lawyers,' Rep. Buck said.'This bill makes it impossible for job creators to defend against lawsuits, and allows trial lawyers to pursue unlimited compensatory damages.'

Rep. Buck voted 'YES' on the amendment to H.R. 7 proposed by Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.), which would replace the unworkable and unbalanced provisions in H.R. 7 and effectively address the pay discrimination in the workplace.
