New Virginia ABC Facilities in Hanover County Win Awards

The Richmond Real Estate Group (RREG) on Monday presented the Virginia Department of General Services (DGS) and the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority (ABC) with its 2022 Impact Award for the latter's new headquarters and distribution center completed last year in Hanover County.

Virginia ABC Chief Executive Officer Travis Hill accepted the award at the Richmond Real Estate Group's announcement event held at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.

"As an authority, we were able to adopt a unique approach for the project, partnering with the Department of General Services to utilize a turnkey RFP process allowing private sector businesses to bring creative solutions to our stated needs," Hill explained. "The new headquarters and distribution center will accommodate the authority's future growth as we evolve to meet customer demand and generate revenue for the commonwealth. We are now equipped with an open and efficient workspace for all our employees and are pleased to be a part of Hanover County's development."

Department of General Services Director Joe Damico added: "We were pleased to bring the whole of DGS to this partnership with ABC, from our real estate professionals and construction project managers on the ground, to the support teams who helped guide this project toward completion. This partnership and the resulting new headquarters and distribution center will have a true impact on ABC operations and services to its customers for years to come."

Tennessee-based H&M Company, an engineering and construction firm, developed the 95,000-square-foot office building and an approximately 315,000-square-foot distribution center.

"The Impact Award winner is the real estate development or project or transaction that had the greatest impact in the RVA commercial real estate market in the past calendar year," said David R. Auman, senior vice president at Hourigan Group and RREG president. "Our executive committee selected the new Virginia ABC headquarters and distribution center from a number of nominations presented by RREG members."

Virginia ABC's new facilities also won a Greater Richmond Association of Commercial Real Estate (GRACRE) award for best Industrial Project announced by the association on April 27. The GRACRE award was one of 21 selected by the association to receive an award.
