Over $460,000 Raised in Michelin’s Virtual Charity Golf Tournament

  • Over $8 million raised through Michelin's annual charity golf tournament over the past 32 years

Michelin North America, Inc., has raised over $460,000 through its recent Virtual Charity Golf Tournament, with proceeds supporting 10 charities in communities where Michelin employees live and work.

In lieu of the traditional in-person golf tournament, Michelin business partners and suppliers joined a virtual gathering to hear from Michelin North America's leadership team on a variety of topics and present funds to each charity.

The tournament has generated more than $8 million since its inception in 1989. This year's tournament will award proceeds to 10 charitable organizations. Here is a brief summary of each:

Ardmore Bridges Out of Poverty, based in Ardmore, Okla., strives to empower through education those individuals living in poverty or disabled by a poverty mindset. The organization's goal is to eliminate poverty and create productive individuals in Ardmore, Carter County and throughout the United States.

Camperdown Academy, based in Greenville, S.C., provides excellence in the education of dyslexic children and has been serving students since 1986. Families approach Camperdown Academy after traditional classroom environments have proven unsuccessful.

Fisher House,based in Columbia, S.C., provides temporary accommodations to military families while veterans receive medical attention at the William Jennings Bryan VA Hospital. As a safe haven for loved ones of veterans, Fisher House is located on the campus of the VA Medical Center.

Habitat for Humanity in Anderson, S.C.is tackling the growing issue of affordable housing by offering low-income households a pathway to homeownership. Through sweat-equity, education and interest-free mortgages, Habitat homes change lives by building financial stability, improving health and safety, and providing a strong, stable foundation for educational and career success.

Louisville Urban League (LUL) assists marginalized populations in the Louisville, Ky., area in attaining social and economic equality through direct services and advocacy. The League seeks to empower people and change lives through jobs, justice, education, health and housing.

Mad Anthony's Children's Hope House, based in Fort Wayne, Ind., provides a home away from home for families while their children are receiving treatment in local hospitals. Families can find rest, meals, hope and encouragement while knowing that they are just a few short minutes away from their child.

Stanly Health Foundation, based in Albemarle, N.C., partners with Atrium Health Stanly to improve the health of the community by funding community outreach and education programs for heart disease, diabetes and cancer. Over the past 30 years, Stanly Health Foundation has funded hundreds of programs and projects addressing both large and small health problems and disparities.

Tuscaloosa SAFE Center, based in Tuscaloosa, Ala., serves victims of sexual violence in the nine-county West Alabama Region. The organization represents a community-based, collaborative agency designed to meet the emotional, medical and forensic needs of sexual assault survivors by providing quality medical care, forensic examinations, follow-up, advocacy, education and outreach, counseling and support group services.

The Nature Conservancy, based in Columbia, S.C., is the leading conservation organization working to protect ecologically important lands and waters for nature and people. The Conservancy has protected more than 40,000 acres in the Upstate, including a recent addition of 955 acres to Jones Gap State Park.

The Wiregrass Museum of Art (WMA), based in Dothan, Ala., inspires lifelong learning through the visual arts for communities in the Wiregrass region. WMA provides innovative educational programs that engage diverse audiences through the collection and exhibition of quality works.
