04/17/2024

JONESBORO - Jessica Tran, an Arkansas State University graduate student from Crossett, has been selected as a Fulbright grant recipient for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Tran has received the Fulbright U.S. Student program award for an English teaching assistantship in Vietnam.
"I am so grateful to be selected for this award and even more appreciative of the continuous support I've received from my Fulbright program adviser, my mentors, my friends, and my family," said Tran.

Tran, who graduates in May with a master's degree in English, works as a graduate assistant for the Writing Center and the Department of English, Philosophy and World Languages.
"When I received the award letter I was filled with pride and excitement. Months of preparing and waiting finally paid off," added Tran.
Tran will leave for Vietnam this fall. Her future plans are to become an instructor or an administrator in higher education.

She is the daughter of Lan Pham and Lam Tran of Crossett.

Fulbright award recipients are selected in an open, merit-based competition that considers leadership potential, academic and professional achievement, and a record of service.
For nearly eight decades, the Fulbright Program has awarded more than 400,000 participants from more than 160 countries with the opportunity to study, teach and conduct research, exchange ideas and contribute to finding solutions to shared international concerns.
The Fulbright U.S. Student Program is administered at A-State through the Emerging Scholars Program. For more details, one may contact Jennifer Salo, Fulbright Program adviser and director of the Emerging Scholars Program, at [email protected].
