City of Tulsa Ready for Fifth Annual 918 Day; Scavenger Hunt Scheduled for Saturday, September 17

8/18/2022

918 Day (Sept. 18) is a month away, and the City of Tulsa has several options for Tulsans to get involved and celebrate. This year's focus honors the commitment and service of our first responders - Tulsa Police, Tulsa Fire, and EMSA.

The city launched 918 Day in 2018 as a part of the Resilient Tulsa Strategy, which calls for increasing social cohesion by facilitating connections and community-building in all corners of the city.

To celebrate 918 Day, the city has two key events Tulsans won't want to miss, including a free citywide scavenger hunt that encourages Tulsans to learn more about our first responders and business promotions throughout Tulsa. To register for the Scavenger Hunt, or register a 918 Day business promotion, visit: www.cityoftulsa.org/918Day.

Mayor G.T. Bynum was instrumental in selecting the theme for this year's 918 Day due to his appreciation for Tulsa's first responders.

"918 Day is about celebrating what makes our city a special place. The City of Tulsa has some of the best public servants in America," Mayor G.T. Bynum said. "This year's 918 Day offers a great opportunity to show our gratitude for those who risk their lives every day to keep Tulsans safe."

Saturday, Sept. 17 - 918 Day Scavenger Hunt - Deadline for Sign-Up is Sept. 7
Test your knowledge of Tulsa first responder trivia in a free citywide scavenger hunt. Groups of four will team up and receive clues to Tulsa locations showcasing and educating citizens about our first responders. Participants will also receive a special edition 918 Day t-shirt courtesy of Mythic Press and the Tulsa FOP Lodge 93. The winning team will be announced the following week and receive a basket of Tulsa treasures.

Registration is required for the scavenger hunt. To register, you will need a team name and up to four participants.

The Scavenger Hunt will begin at 9 a.m. and end at noon on Saturday, Sept. 17. Participants must attend the kick-off event at 8:45 a.m. on Sept. 17 at Fire Station 33, 4109 S. 134th East Ave., to check in and receive their clues. Register at: www.cityoftulsa.org/918Day.

Send a Digital "Thank You" to First Responders - Saturday, Sept. 17 or Sunday, Sept. 18
Our first responders patrol the streets - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Why not show your support as they work on 918 Day? We encourage businesses, schools, or churches with marquees or signs to showcase their support for our hometown heroes throughout the weekend.

918 Day Promotions - The deadline for registration is Sept. 10
Multiple Tulsa businesses have submitted their 918 Day promotions in years past to show their support of Tulsa. To submit your promotion, use the sign-up form on the city's official page for 918 Day. The deadline to register your business promotion is Sept. 10.

Keep checking the page for promotions that will be occurring around 918 Day, which will be outlined in a detailed map. The website will be updated every Friday leading up to 918 Day. You can also follow the City of Tulsa Facebook page for 918 Day updates.

918 Day Graphics
The city has created social media graphics that anyone can download and display to "Celebrate the 918." This year's design concept celebrates Tulsa's first responders and their positive impact on the community. To show our gratitude and passion, our 918 Day graphics look like vintage sports paraphernalia, showcasing Tulsa's fandom for heroes.

All 918 Day graphics can be found at www.cityoftulsa.org/918Day. Images can be used on your social media pages, profile pictures, and header images. The images will be available online closer to September 18. Check the City of Tulsa social media channels for details on when the images will be available for download.
