ESU Secures First-Ever Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup Top-50 Finish

EAST STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University finished 46th in the final set of rankings for the 2017-18 Learfield Sports Directors' Cup in NCAA Division II, achieving its first top-50 ranking in school history.

ESU had five teams advance to the NCAA Tournament in their respective sports, the most in school history - men's and women's soccer, field hockey, men's basketball and women's lacrosse.

Men's basketball and women's lacrosse won their first-ever Atlantic Region titles, with men's basketball advancing to the national quarterfinals and women's lacrosse to the national semifinals.

Women's soccer was Atlantic Region runner-up, and field hockey played in the national semifinals.

Men's basketball played in the NCAA Tournament for the fifth time in the last nine years, women's lacrosse was in for the second straight year, field hockey for the third straight year, women's soccer for the fourth straight year and men's soccer for the first time since 2008.

ESU was fifth among the PSAC's 18 programs in the Learfield standings. The Warriors were fourth in the PSAC's Dixon Trophy standings released last month, tied for the best finish in school history.

ESU's previous top Learfield ranking was 52nd in 2010-11.
