ACP Statement on Proposed Offshore Wind Auctions for Oregon and the Gulf of Maine

Press Release

Apr 30 2024

WASHINGTON D.C., April 30, 2024- The American Clean Power Association (ACP) released the following statement from Anne Reynolds, ACP Vice President for Offshore Wind, after the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) announced two proposed lease sale notices for wind energy areas off the Oregon coast and the Gulf of Maine:

"We commend BOEM for advancing plans to auction offshore wind energy leases off the Oregon coast and in the Gulf of Maine. The auctions announced today have the potential to generate more than 18 gigawatts of offshore wind energy, enough to power more than six million homes in the Pacific Northwest and New England. Providing new lease areas for offshore wind power development creates the pathway to cleaner power, more jobs, and a stronger and more reliable electric grid."
