NYSGA Accepts Nearly 150 Entries for 80th Boys' Junior Championship

JAMESVILLE, N.Y. -- The New York State Golf Association has accepted 142 entries for the 80th Boys' Junior Amateur Championship at Soaring Eagles Golf Club in Horseheads, N.Y., July 26-27.

To be eligible, a player must have a Handicap Index, and must be a member of the NYSGA, defined as either (1) belonging to an NYSGA member club or (2) joining the NYSGA as a 2022 NYSGA eClub Member.

Sectional Qualifying, played over 18 holes, will be conducted at sites around New York from Sunday, June 26 to Friday, July 15 at the following venues:

June 26 - Chautaqua CC (Jamestown) - 7/2
June 26 - Corning CC (Elmira) - 8/3
June 27 - Mendon GC (Rochester) - 9/3
July 2 - Watertown GC (Watertown) - 5/2
July 3 - Links at Hiawatha (Binghamton) - 6/2
July 5 - Colonie G&CC (Albany) - 15/6
July 6 - Red Hook GC (Mid-Hudson) - 9/4
July 7 - Yahnundasis GC (Utica) - 5/2
July 9 - Malone - East (N. Country) - 5/2
July 9 - Wayne Hills CC (Finger Lakes) - 3/2
July 11 - Bethpage Yellow (Long Island) - 17/7
July 14 - Sheridan Park (Buffalo) - 13/5
July 15 - Tuscarora GC (Syracuse) - 16/6
( ##/## denotes the number of players competing for an allocated number of qualifying spots at each site.)

Nestled inside Mark Twain State Park, named after the author who often traveled to the area, Soaring Eagles is home to one of the most scenic and challenging courses in the area.

### EXEMPT GOLFERS ###

Exemption categories for the championship are as follows:

E1. From the 2019 NYS Boys' 18U Junior Amateur Championship, the 10 lowest scorers and anyone tied for 10th place.
E2. From the 2019 NYS Boys' 14U Junior Amateur Championship, the 5 lowest scorers and anyone tied for 5th place.
E3. Most recent (as of July 26, 2021) winner of the following regional events:

E4. Qualifiers for USGA Championships
E5. Players ranked in the top-1000 of the Rolex American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) Rankings
E6. Players ranked in the top-1000 of the Junior Golf Scoreboard
E7. Special exemptions as selected by the NYSGA
