Magyar Telekom concluded an agreement for 5G roaming with Hrvatski Telekom, member of Deutsche Telekom Group, the largest telecommunications service provider in Croatia and actually the only one offering 5G in Croatia. From 1 April Magyar Telekom customers with a 5G-capable device and subscription plan may enjoy the benefits of 5G on Hrvatski Telekom's network in the relevant 5G coverage area, up to the amount of mobile data thatcanbeusedinEUroamingsituationsincluded in their plan, without paying extra fees. Hrvatski Telekom customers, with a suitable device and tariff plan, can use Magyar Telekom's 5G network when visiting Hungary in the areas covered by 5G.

Hrvatski Telekom's 5G network currently has an outdoor coverage of 34% of the population in the country. The 5G service is available in several localities across the country, including the four largest cities (Zagreb, Osijek, Rijeka, Split) and 30 other cities. Hrvatski Telekom's 5G network currently operates on 2100 MHz using Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DSS) technology while awaiting the completion of the ongoing auction procedure for new 5G spectrum bands.

Magyar Telekom launched its commercial 5G service on the 3.6 GHz frequency one year ago. Thanks to the developments that have taken place since then, in addition to Budapest and Budaörs, the 5th generation mobile service is already available in 21 localities at Lake Balaton, as well as in six county capitals (Zalaegerszeg, Debrecen, Szeged, Kecskemét, Győr and Szombathely). Last November, the service provider launched its 5G service in the 2100 MHz frequency band, and thanks to the new launch, by the end of the year the operator expanded the coverage of its 5G network in the capital to nearly 30% of the population. By using the two frequencies the national outdoor coverage of the Telekom 5G network is 9.8%. The service can be used in the areas covered by 5G with a suitable 5G-capable device and monthly fee plan.

In the future Magyar Telekom is planning to conclude a 5G roaming agreement with other service providers, first with European operators belonging to the Deutsche Telekom Group, so that its customers do not have to stop using the 5G service during their vacation or business trip once the epidemic related restrictions are lifted.
